Italy Most Exposed to Libya as Top Trading Partner: Chart of the Day

...
The CHART OF THE DAY shows that Italy bought 49 percent of Libya’s exports to the 27-nation EU in 2009 and was responsible for 39 percent of the bloc’s sales to the North African country, according to Eurostat, the EU’s Luxembourg-based statistics office. Germany bought 14 percent of Libyan exports.

Italy’s ties with Libya, which it occupied from 1911 to 1943, have strengthened under Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. In 2008, it forged a treaty that paved the way for 25 billion euros ($34 billion) in Eni SpA oil projects in Libya. Investment links also go the other way, with Libyan stakes in UniCredit SpA, Italy’s biggest bank, totalling 7.6 percent.

“Italy is first in the firing line,” said James Walston, who teaches politics at the American University in Rome. “His friend seems to be in trouble, but Berlusconi does not want to ‘bother’ Qaddafi.”

Libya, holder of Africa’s largest oil reserves, is the latest country in the region to be rocked by protests ignited by the ouster of Tunisia’s president last month and spurred by the fall of Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak on Feb. 11. One of Qaddafi’s sons, Saif al-Islam, warned on Feb. 20 of the risk of civil war.
...

... it would be naive not to think ...
... that Jekyll island bankers are due to make a lot of progress ...
... in the process of appropriating the largest African oil reserves ...
... and in the process bankrupting the European community ...
... wall street "plausible denial" goes a long way ...

Army clamps down after deadly Bahrain riots

Bahrain's military has deployed armoured vehicles in the centre of Manama and vowed to restore order after a violent police raid on anti-regime protesters left four people dead and scores wounded.

Libya riots after funeral catastrophe

...
Witnesses told AFP by telephone that security forces clashed with anti-regime protesters in the Mediterranean city of Misrata, 200km from Tripoli.

Demonstrators were on the streets there to show support for residents of Benghazi, 1 000km from the capital, who have endured the brunt of a crackdown in eastern Libya, they said.

The Revolution in Mexico has began
Michael Webster, Investigative Reporter
January 21, 2009

Mexico´s Drugs, Violence and corruption and all of its related ramifications will bring the country down through revolution by its people.

According to a spokesperson for a new radical group calling itself the Juárez Citizens Command is threatening to strike back against lawlessness that has gripped Mexico for a long time, they say that they are going to strike back by killing one criminal a day until order and piece is restored. Similar groups are popping up all across Mexico.

Over the years, with the help of corrupt Mexican officials and corrupt or myopic American officials, and with American politicians nurturing a lack of foresight and discernment therefore developed at the very least a narrow view of what´s actually happening in Mexico and are now in denial of a failed state. As a result of this corruption the failed state of Mexico has become one of the most dangerous places in the world where violence runs rampant and Citizens wake up to executed headless bodies in their streets. The spokesperson stated.

... it is not complicated ...
... but it is not simple as well ...
... census voting was acceptable in the 1800s ...
... in an age where census was the only way to have an education ...
... and knowledge was more general and less specialized ...

... while for generic civil liberties ...
... it may be indispensable universal suffrage ...
... to prevent dismantling of a fair representation process ...
... highly specialized education has raised the competence in narrow fields ...
... and has lead to a loss of competence in general matters ...
... adding to the problem the numerical predominance ...
... of a new class of highly educated poor people ...
... and the numerical dominance in democracies ...
... of fanatics advocating superiority of dementia dogmas to reason ...

... the answer of socialized and plutocratic regimes to this situation ...
... whereas we can not fail to see "currency" and banking are the "architects" ...
... even in communist societies, other than in "capitalistic" bigot regimes ...
... consists in exterminating educated people ...
... or "re educating" them in internments camps ...
... advocating the historical excuse of the two types of dogma ...
... militant monotheisms and militant collectivism ....
... this is a direct consequence of the sovereignty of power and accumulation of wealth ...
... in any regime funded on myths outside of engineering efficiency ...
... which are all modern theocracies, democracies and plutocracies ...

... now universal suffrage is a good choice ...
... when is proven "competence" on the matter ...
... which is pretty much "not" the case in the majority of polls ...
... also freedom is an end ...
... but the "architects" of freedom use it to abuse of their subjects ...
... and freedom is a mean ...
... but the "architects" of morals use it to abuse of their subjects ...

... so we can not repudiate the libertarian principles of liberty ...
... in order not to open the doors to the populism of the myth and the ignorance ...
... but at the same time ...
... we should "honestly" analyze ...
... for each issue ...
... the reason why the vote of an incompetent ...
... weights the same of the one of a competent ...

... at the bottom of the whole story is the dilemma ...
... of how to handle the unreasonable dogma ...
... should it be let free to destroy freedom for coherence with freedom principles ? ...
... should freedom continue to degenerate into the dictatorship of submission ...
... towards the duality of the same dictatorship of currency ...
... subject of the two dogmatic non scientific rhetorics of god and/or the proletariat ...
... telling you what's right and wrong ...
... or should it just recognize that the enemy is ...
... in the two faces of the monetary slavery ? ...
... that designate the puppet masters of the game ...
... in the bankers of jekyll island, the vatican and pekin ? ...

... is it "not" "now" the time to critically analyze history ...
... and eliminate wars produced by freedom of religious deception ...
... freedom of monetary fraud and freedom of stupid unrestricted procreation ? ...
... we must chose if become societies of type one or become extinct ...
... we know for a fact that monetary society, religions, and communal myths ...
... are leading us to become extinct ...

... one known weakness of democracy is incompetence ...
... a "compartmented" structure "by subject" of competence ...
... could give "one head" "one vote" for all subjects ...
... and in only your fields of competence ...
... could give "one head" "three votes" ...
... would this work better ? ...
... what criteria we could use for such solution ? ...
... take your degree certificates to the voting poll ? ...
... what would be the weighted value of mikey mouse degrees ...
... such as tarot readings and theology ? ...
... the first could be competent to express competent vote about gaming ? ...
... the second about churches zoning ? ...

... more important, another issue known in all societies ...
... is monetary manipulation ...
... the necessary prerequisite to avoid extinction ...
... is the end of the monetary system ...
... has worked since the times of the Sumerian ...
... but is now a sink of resources ...
... would it be reasonable to let economists express competent vote about a non monetary society ...
... while they have demonstrated in a monetary one that a system driven by their theories ...
... is designed to crash ...
... would you have a second surgery with the doctors that almost killed you in the first ? ...

Leonard cohen - the future. Jools Holland

Thinking About the Unthinkable

...
We have long lived in the faith that “nature does not set booby traps for unwary species,” as Robert Sinsheimer once noted.
...
Reliance on capitalism, rooted in the metaphor of “invisible hands,” doesn’t clarify our plight much either. Humans are not the rational calculators assumed in economic models.
...
To kill a human being is murder, but what crime is it to cancel the numberless multitude of un conceived people? In what court is such a crime to be judged? Against whom is it committed? . . . What standing should they have among us?”
...
This is a case of what Hannah Arendt once called “radical evil,” which Schell interprets as evil that “goes beyond destroying individual victims and, in addition, destroys the world that can in some way respond to—and thus in some measure redeem—the deaths suffered.”
...
We are now in the era that biologist E. O. Wilson has called “the bottleneck,” for which we have no precedent and no very useful example. I have faith that humankind will emerge someday chastened but improved.
...
But deliverance will require more than astute science and a great deal more than smarter technology—both necessary but insufficient. Science can describe our situation down to parts per trillion and help to create better technologies, but it can give us no clear reason why we should want to survive, why we deserve to be sustained on Earth, or why we should worry about the lives or well-being of generations whose existence now hangs in the balance. That is rather the function of deeper senses that we catalog with words like “morality,” “ethics,” and “spirituality.”
...
But what kind of morality or ethics is remotely adequate when measured against the time spans necessary to restabilize Earth’s systems? I do not know. But with each turn of the screw it will be tempting to avoid asking such questions and give in to trade-offs that privilege the living and damn those who reside only in the abstraction we call the future. And, for sure, there is no easy or perhaps good case to be made for current destitution except a bit more of it for the wealthy.
...
Alcoholics Anonymous, for example, offers a twelve-step process to overcome addiction that begins with self-awareness and leads to a public confession of the problem, a reshaping of intention, the stabilizing influence of a support group, and a reclaiming of self-mastery to higher ends. The power of this narrative line is in the similarity between substance addiction and its collateral damages and our societal addictions to consumption, entertainment, and energy and their destructive effects on our places, selves, and children.
...
we have quite underestimated the magnitude and speed of the human destruction of nature.
....
It is easier, I think, to understand the reality of dilemmas in places that have historical ruins and are overlaid with memories of tragedies and misfortunes that testify to human fallibility, ignorance, arrogance, pride, overreach, and sometimes evil. Amid shopping malls, bustling freeways, and all of the accoutrements, paraphernalia, enticements, and gadgetry of a booming fantasy industry, it is harder to believe that sometimes things don’t work out because they simply cannot or that limits to desire and ambition might really exist.
...
We are now engaged in a global debate about what it means to become “sustainable.” But no one knows how we might secure our increasingly tenuous presence on the Earth or what that will require of us. We have good reason to suspect, however, that the word “sustainable” must imply something deeper than merely the application of more technology and smarter economics. It is possible and perhaps even likely that more of the same “solutions” would only compound our tribulations. The effort to secure a decent human future, I think, must be built on the awareness of the connections that bind us to each other, to all life, and to all life to come. And in time, that awareness will transform our politics, laws, economics, philosophies, manner of living, worldviews, and politics.

... booby traps as Nietzsche noted ...
... "has not observed life ...
... the one who does not see ...
... the hand that kills" ...
... ignorant species like humans ...
... who worship mythological divinities ...
... are due to face sad surprises and delusion ...

... Reliance on capitalism ...
... is reliance in another type of mythology ...
... economics is a fraudulent religion just like any other ...

... In what court is such a crime to be judged? ...
... history of the troglodyte called "human" ...
... a brainless spineless creepy monkey with an attitude ...
... that adores shiny objects ...
... and fantasy men in the sky with a white beard ...
... who forgive their sins and genocides ...
... has shown that it is judged in the court of the winner ...
... the interesting thing about "nature" ...
... that godly and market worshiper church pigs have underestimated ...
... is that just like in their resource wars, there is no recourse in the judgment of nature ...

... “radical evil,” ...
... is the consequence of cults mobbing evil ...
... "cults" preach "inequality" of dignity ...
... inequality of dignity is mobbing towards nature ...
... "cults" preach capitalism rigged competition ...
... rigged capitalism is mobbing towards nature ...
... this two "cults of evil" are Christianity and monetary economics ...

... I have faith ...
... I don't but I realize every permutation and combination reoccurs ...
... there is no need of god or faith for combinations and permutations ...
... regardless weather this human species will go extinct or not ...
... the universe has time the monkey with an attitude can not buy at any price ...
... "god died" ...
... god will disappear with the churches of falsity and their money changers ...
... but the universe will survive the brain challenged ...
... godly monkeys with an attitude ...
... in silence ...

... positives such as “spirituality.” ...
... should never be matched with negatives such “morality,” “ethics,” ...
... especially the twisted “morality,” “ethics,” of religions and monetary economics ...
... the later have produced the problem ...
... "Christian" twisted ethics are responsible of genocides and depletion of earth resources for their holy wars plans ...
... "Christian" twisted ethics are responsible of wars of resources to perpetuate themselves ...
... "Christian" twisted ethics are responsible of irresponsible reproduction to perpetuate their slavery plan ...
... monetary twisted society is responsible of the wars of resources to perpetuate itself ...
... monetary twisted society is responsible of wealth destruction for it's vulture agenda ...
... monetary twisted society is responsible of irresponsible reproduction for its slavery agenda...
... as GBS said, "history has proven that we don't learn anything from history" ...

... what kind of morality or ethics ...
... the question proves the points above ...
... religious and monetary "morality or ethics" are "irrelevant" ...
... they become relevant only to their domination agenda ...
... religion and monetary systems are resources sinks ...
... all they do is producing geometrical waste of resources ...
... their people a bunch of lazy theater actors that could not do any usable job ...
... two classes of social parasites ...

... a twelve-step process ...
... GBS wrote "the road to hell is paved of good intentions" ...
... but if it works for you, here is a "condensed" version ...
... of the steps for "petroleum anonymous" (open one in your suburbia cul de sack): ...
... - We admitted we were powerless over petroleum, our lives had become unmanageable ...
... - Came to believe that only technocracy and logistics could restore us to sanity ...
... - Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of reason ...
... - Made a searching and fearless inventory of our history
... - Made a list of all countries, races and civilizations we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all ...
... - Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to other petroleum addicted ...

... underestimated ...
... especially the effects of irresponsible procreation ...

... historical ruins ...
... this is nothing, hon, you ain't seen "it" "yet" ...
... this is not even the appetizer ...
... wait to see the first serving ...
... make sure you wear diapers for the circumstance ...

... no one knows ...
... we monkeys with an attitude perfectly know ...
... but don't have any intention to lose the grip on the bone of wealth ...
... built into our power machines, idolatry and usury ...
... our "standard of living" is "not negotiable" ...
... we don't have any intention to give up on our mobbing attitude ...
... built into the lies of our religions and social "myths" ...
... since we know we are a "superior" race ...
... we have been brainwashed since birth to "know" about our "superiority" ...
... and we realize that all are due to be our slaves ...
... and bow in front of our ignorance and arrogance ...
... so we will keep reminding all our ungodly subjects ...
... of our grandness, with our uneducated superior shitty attitude ...

... we will not be ready for the transition on time ...
... we don't give a damn about the transition ...
... all we care is embezzling more money to build more churches ...
... and convert the sinners or make them "non beings" ...
... f**k the homeless veterans in the streets ...
... f**k the foreigners, all "inferior" to our "superiority" ...
... f**k the hungry, the poor and the sick ...
... "god" wants us to be slave masters of the universe ...
... we American don't need a transition time ...
... because our "superior" wall street puppet masters ...
... can do in a cheaper way with a few FEMA extermination camps, genocides and wars instead ...
... "profitability" and "godliness" come first to anything ...
... we are under god, god wants us to murder the "infidels" ...
... and, by the way, give us back our slaves and sheets ...

George Carlin on the Ten Commandments

Professor: Rejection of Pope is fear of dialogue between faith and reason

...
"This is just a part of the secularist culture that has no argument, so it demonizes, it does not argue as a real secular culture, but creates monsters." Professor Giorgio Israel
...
In an article published by L'Osservatore Romano, Israel, who is also a professor of mathematics at La Sapienza, argues that the protest against the Pope's scheduled speech "is particularly surprising since Italian universities are supposed to be places open to any kind of position, and it makes no sense that only the Pope is denied access."
...
In other words, the Pope's remarks at that time "were a clear defense of Galilean rationality against the skepticism and relativism of our postmodern culture”, wrote Israel.
...
"But I am afraid that here intellectual rigor has very little to do [with their motivations] and that the intention is to build a barrier at any cost," especially when considering that some of the signers of the letter against the Pope "have never expressed a word of criticism against Islamic fundamentalism or against those denying the Shoah."
...

... just read the article about genius and pathology ...
... all it can not be disputed, is the fact that historically ...
... science had as many madmen as religion ...
... Moniz is the mother of all madnesses ...
... and revisionism is as popular in science as in religion ...

... given the above and given the fact that in the middle is the virtue ...
... nobody disputes the social importance of some basic spiritual principles ...
... but at the bottom line, as george carlin said in a humorous way ...
... a condensed version of the commandments would be sufficient ...
... all the rest is "politics" ...
... to perpetuate the "big church incorporated" world domination agenda ...

... nothing can be proven neither about "holy" scriptures holiness ...
... that could make them something more than mythology or at the best history ...
... of primitive societies ...
... one thing it can be said about scriptures ...
... is that they are significant work of art of their times ...
... but art has to remain art and science has to remain science ...
... otherwise we would be all drunk at the church of Baudelaire ...
... or venerating a piston at the church of technology ...

... over the friction ...
... it can only be stated that as usual the truth is somewhere in between ...
... from one side is a church that wants to be an absolute monarchy ...
... and a financial corporation with ambitions of manipulation of planetary politics ...
... on the other there is the rhetoric of an economic theory ...
... that mainstream opinion classifies as science ...
... but lacks scientific method because of conflict of interest ...
... at the bottom line the friction represents the clash of two dogmas ...
... and the irony is in the fact that they perpetuate each other ...
... in useless disputes ...

... now in a perfect world of intellectual honesty ...
... both sides could have put away their rhetoric ...
... and reached a compromise ...
... but neither is willing to compromise ...

... there may be somewhere a parallel universe ...
... where the academics recognize that higher knowledge ...
... is the discovery of the consciousness of a higher degree of ignorance ...
... and where the religious world recognizes ...
... that their reason to exist is in the being servants of the servants ...
... a parallel universe where popes live and act like saint francis ...
... and scientists live and act like Lord Carnarvon ...
... and in such universe probably crimes against humanity would not exist ...

... what surely plays less in favor of organized religion however ...
... is their historical track record ...
... anybody with such historical records should be kept ...
... at least for a couple of centuries "on probation" ...
... to establish the honesty of motivation of such institutions ...
... but nevertheless the same can be said of many other pseudo-sciences ...
... such as economics and many branches of the medical field ...

Go West - Part 5

The Marx Brothers come to the rescue in the Wild West when a young man, trying to settle an old family feud so he can marry the girl he loves, runs afoul of crooks.

Engel - RAMMSTEIN

IEA 2010 World Energy Outlook

...
The IEA's vision is unchanged. It's the market and technology paradigm, supported by optimism that reduces serious problems to "challenges"
...
The similarities between the IEA projections are that they are invariably pointing upward. Any difficulty can be mastered by technological developments, new finds, and alternatives to fossil fuels. The destruction of the environment, the huge problems connected with unconventional gas and oil are discounted against the "need" for more, more oil, more economic growth, more people on this planet.
...
"Peak Oil" is non-existent in the minds of the leaders.
...The Swiss government is still discussing how to fund the construction of more roads and more railway lines and tunnels, without considering the energy question.
Even the Swiss ASPO puts peak oil towards after 2020, happily discusssing so-called "renewable" alternatives, and liaising with the HOT-people of "SwissCleanTech".
(HOT = Hope Optimism Technology)
...
The IEA team do not consider the EROEI condition, it seems.
The Energetic Return On Energetic Investment has to be at least five to one in order to maintain present structures. Below 1:1 Energetic Return On Energetic Investment it is more expensive to extract oil and fossil fuels than the fossil energy that is obtained. No technology can undo this basic fact.

Yet the IEA sees technology and the market Demand-Supply-Price mechanisms capable of producing sufficient energy in the future. These are illusions based on economic theory.
...
Presently the EROEI lies around 25:1, whereas a hundred years ago it was over 100:1. It could soon be at the minimum useful level, 5:1. Thereafter the party is over. No "market mechanism" will invalidate the EROEI equation.
...
It's painful to notice that the IEA projects Aviation oil consumption to rise by more than 50 percent from 2008 till 2035.

Biofuels was a short-sighted model of the past few years. Some say biofuels are a crime against humanity, because of the "Fuel or Food" choice and the disastrous effects on biodiversity. Even if many millions of farmers would produce biomass harvests - e.g. agave trees on lands that have not been used for agriculture so far - these people would still need food, produced elsewhere. Similarly, forests can not produce biomass for fuels and simultaneously be reserved for biodiversity and provide food for people living in or nearby forests.

The equation remains food or fuel.
...
On the downslope after Peak-Oil our biggest problem will be how to plant, harvest, convert and distribute food crops with less fossil fuels for tractors and all equipment needed.
Our growth paradigm will be ended by the end of oil. Modernity will end.
...

... try my latest version of I=PAT ...
... GMCI=PARTZ ...
... where G is the total planetary available net resource amount ...
... M is the monetary interest inefficiency multiplier ...
... C is the degree of the tradition dogmatic damage multiplier ...
... R is the logarithmically growing residual vapor wealth introduced in the monetary system ...
... Z is the inequality of market wealth distribution parameter ...
... and the other variables are as usual ...

... it can be easy to verify ...
... that where the monetary interest and religion inefficiency multipliers trend to zero ...
... the environmental impact goes to zero ...
... and the global resources depletion versus time curve inverts ...
... this is the picture of a local tribal society ...
... consuming one caloric of energy per one caloric of food ...

... on the right side ...
... neither the technology intensiveness parameter can reach zero ...
... nor can the degree of inequality impact of the market distribution disappear ...
... those are 'solutions" not solving "sufficiently" the main problems ...
... because the residual smoke in the monetary system grows exponentially ...
... and there is no substitute for reduction of population ...

... however it is easy to see ...
... that increase of population and vapor wealth ...
... both increase the impact on planetary damage ...
... in turn destroying resources ...
... forcing a permanent decrease in affluence ...
... and right after a drastic decrease of population ...
... and this is a picture of our global society ...
... consuming ten calorics of energy per caloric of food ...
... and reproducing insanely at a geometric rate ...
... and thus at the verge of of a third world war ...
... the maybe final planetary war ? ...

... don't mind my rants, just joking ...
... try it, insert real 2006 and 2010 data ...
... see what you come out with ...
