YouTube, Google obbligato a consegnare il database a Viacom

NEW YORK
Un giudice federale di New York ha ordinato a Google di consegnare al colosso dei media Viacom un database contenente informazioni che legano gli utenti di YouTube - il più grande sito di contenuti video del mondo controllato dalla società di Mountainview - a tutte le clip che essi abbiano mai guardato.

L’ordinanza, scrive il New York Times, ha suscitato le reazioni degli utenti e dei gruppi in difesa della privacy, preoccupati che le loro abitudini di utilizzo di Internet possano venire violate.

Il giudice ha ordianto che per ogni video contenuto su YouTube, Googel renda noto il nome utente e l’indirizzo I.P., ossia l’indirizzo dei computer da cui sono stati visti. Con questi dati solamente non è possibile in teoria risalire all’identità di un utente, anche se in passato gli esperti di tecnologia sono riusciti a farlo.

Google e Viacom hanno tuttavia promesso di proteggere l’anonimità degli utenti di Youtbe. Viacom ha sottolineato come l’utilizzo di quei dati sarò utilizzato solo da consulenti esterni della società e servirà nell’ambito della causa da 1 miliardo di dollari intentata per violazione di copyright contro Google.

An interesting study in thought control in America today is to try to acquire my book via regular distribution channels.

The spending is in the stimulus plan approved Wednesday in the House, but it is not in the Senate version ...
